Job Offer Points in Express Entry: 50, 70 or 100 CRS Points From November 3, 2026 (No LMIA Needed)
From November 3, 2026, job offers count in Express Entry again. An offer in a high-wage occupation earns 50, 70 or 100 CRS points, and you no longer need an LMIA. From March 25, 2025 until November 2, 2026, a job offer added 0 points. Here is who qualifies, how IRCC decides what counts as high-wage, and how to add the offer to your profile.

“I have an LMIA. Where are my 50 points?” If you are asking this in 2026, you are not doing anything wrong. Job offer points were 0 from March 25, 2025 until November 2, 2026. From November 3, 2026 they come back, but only for offers in high-wage occupations, and an LMIA no longer adds anything.
A lot of the internet has not caught up. Old Quora answers still promise 50 points for any LMIA job offer and 200 for senior managers. Those rules ended on March 25, 2025, and the November 3, 2026 rules do not bring them back. The new points depend on your occupation’s NOC code, not on whether you have an LMIA.
We read the forum threads from the months around the change, plus older ones where people lost the points for other reasons. Here is the full picture under the rules in force as of November 3, 2026.
Quick answer: job offer points Express Entry rules in 2026
March 25, 2025 to November 2, 2026: a job offer added 0 CRS points, with or without an LMIA.
From November 3, 2026: a qualifying job offer in a high-wage occupation earns 50 points (occupation at least 1.3x the average median wage), 70 (1.5x) or 100 (2x). No LMIA is needed, and an LMIA gives no extra points or priority.
Job-offer points sit inside a new Labour Market Integration factor (max 150 points, or 140 with a spouse). You get either Canadian work points plus a high-wage bonus, or job-offer points, whichever is higher, never both.
If your offer is not in your profile yet, add it now.
Job offer points from November 3, 2026: who qualifies
As of 3 November 2026 (announced by IRCC on 16 October 2026), a qualifying high-wage job offer earns 50, 70 or 100 CRS points under a new Labour Market Integration factor, with no LMIA needed.
The tier depends on your job’s NOC code, not your own salary. IRCC compares the national median wage for that occupation with the average median wage of all Canadian workers: at least 2 times earns 100 points, at least 1.5 times earns 70, and at least 1.3 times earns 50. A job that is not on IRCC’s high-wage list earns 0 job offer points, though it can still count for FSW or FST eligibility.
How to add a job offer without an LMIA (IRCC’s instructions)
IRCC says its online profile does not yet reflect the change, so you must still answer that you have a positive LMIA. Under “Work history”, enter:
- Was a positive LMIA issued for the job offer in Canada? -> Yes
- LMIA Number -> 00000
- LMIA Issuance Date -> 2026-01-01
- LMIA Expiry Date -> 2029-01-01

Key takeaways
What Happened to Job Offer Points in Express Entry
The history of the job offer points Express Entry candidates relied on is short. From the launch of Express Entry in 2015 until 2025, “arranged employment” was one of the additional factors. At first it was worth 600 points. In November 2016 that was cut to 50 points for most skilled jobs and 200 for senior managers.
In December 2024, the immigration minister announced the points would be removed to reduce fraud. The change took effect on March 25, 2025. On October 16, 2026, IRCC announced that job offer points return on November 3, 2026, for high-wage occupations only, and its job offer page now explains the new rules.
Period | Skilled job offer | Senior management (NOC Major Group 00) |
|---|---|---|
Jan 2015 to Nov 2016 | 600 | 600 |
Nov 2016 to March 24, 2025 | 50 | 200 |
March 25, 2025 to November 2, 2026 | 0 | 0 |
From November 3, 2026 | 50, 70 or 100 (high-wage occupations only) | Same rules: points depend on the NOC’s high-wage level |
Source: IRCC. Both the 2025 removal and the November 3, 2026 change apply to candidates already in the pool, whose scores IRCC recalculates automatically.
Two details about the end of job offer points Express Entry applicants often miss. First, it hit profiles that were already in the pool, not just new ones. Scores dropped within days. Second, it did not touch applications already in progress. If you had been invited and applied before the change, your points stood.

Who Lost the Most: Real Score Drops
Real case: 582 to 382 overnight
In March 2025, a forum member described a friend who had moved from Germany to work as chief operating officer of a large company. He was 41, had a master’s degree and a very high salary. With the 200 points for a senior management offer, his score was 582. After March 25 it was 382. He was thinking about going back to Germany.
Real case: 528 back to 478
In December 2024, a worker on a Francophone Mobility work permit had 478 points, or 528 with his job offer. He asked if LMIA-exempt offers would lose the points too. They did. All job offers lost them. Members suggested he raise his French to NCLC 7 in every skill, since he only had NCLC 5 in two.
In January 2025, someone asked if any profession would be exempt from the removal. The answer was no. No exemptions were announced, and none came.
Not everyone was unhappy to see job offer points Express Entry scores disappear. One member noted that candidates with strong profiles and no job offer were relieved, because they had been competing against people with 50 purchased points. That is the fraud problem in one sentence.

People Lost These Points Long Before 2025
Even when job offer points Express Entry rules were in force, many people who claimed them should not have. The rules were strict, and they still matter for the things a job offer does today.
Real case: open work permit, no points
In March 2024, a member on an open work permit from the working holiday program had 509 points. They had a new job offer in a management occupation and expected 559. A moderator explained that an open permit did not qualify. The offer needed an LMIA, or the worker had to be on an employer-specific permit with that employer. IRCC’s page says it plainly: a work permit on its own is not a job offer, even an open one.
Real case: refused with 571 points
In December 2022, a Canadian Experience Class applicant with 571 points was refused. The officer’s stated reason was the duties in the employment letter. Later in the thread, members noticed something else. The applicant had claimed 50 job offer points but may not have included an offer letter promising the job for at least a year after getting PR. Claiming points you cannot document is always risky. Our reference letter guide covers the duties problem.
We told a similar story in our CRS score guide. A nurse on a post-graduation work permit believed she had 598 points. After she removed job offer points she could not claim, and one other error, her real score was 471.
What a Job Offer Still Does for You
Even when job offers added 0 CRS points, a job offer was never useless. IRCC still asks you to enter it in your profile, and it counts in the four places below. From November 3, 2026, an offer in a high-wage occupation also earns 50, 70 or 100 CRS points.
Where | What it does | Notes |
|---|---|---|
Federal Skilled Worker grid (67 points) | 10 points for arranged employment, plus 5 for adaptability | Helps you enter the pool, not rank in it |
Federal Skilled Trades Program | A job offer of at least one year is one way to qualify | The other way is a certificate of qualification |
Proof of funds | You are exempt if you are authorized to work in Canada and have a valid job offer | Otherwise you must show settlement funds |
Provincial nominee programs | Many streams require an employer | A nomination adds 600 CRS points |
Based on IRCC program rules. Each program has its own definition of a valid offer.
So an employer has always been a way in, through a province or through eligibility. From November 3, 2026, a high-wage offer also adds CRS points again, and IRCC no longer requires an LMIA for a job offer used for FSW or FST eligibility. Check the 67-point grid with our FSW points calculator, read the skilled trades program page, and see the rules for proof of funds.

Warning: never pay for a job offer
Selling LMIAs was the reason these points were removed in 2025. It is illegal for an employer or agent to charge you for a job offer or an LMIA. From November 3, 2026 no LMIA is needed at all, so anyone selling you one is selling nothing. An IRCC officer checks that every job offer is genuine, and a revoked offer no longer qualifies.
Why Your Calculator May Still Show the Points
A tool that still adds the old flat 50 or 200 job offer points is out of date. As of November 3, 2026, a tool should add points only for an offer in a high-wage occupation (50, 70 or 100). Job offer points are one of the most common reasons a calculator score and a profile score do not match. We list the others in our guide on why CRS scores differ.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I get CRS points for a job offer in 2026?
Yes, if the offer is valid and in a high-wage occupation: as of November 3, 2026, it earns 50, 70 or 100 points, depending on the occupation’s high-wage level. From March 25, 2025 until November 2, 2026, job offers earned 0. Other job offers still earn 0.
Do I still get 50 points for an LMIA?
No. An LMIA by itself never adds CRS points now. From November 3, 2026, points depend only on whether the job is in a high-wage occupation, and IRCC says having an LMIA gives no extra points or priority. An LMIA can still support a work permit.
Did senior managers keep their 200 points?
No. The 200 points for NOC Major Group 00 offers ended on March 25, 2025, and they are not coming back. From November 3, 2026, senior manager offers follow the same high-wage rules as other jobs. For example, NOC 00012 is on IRCC’s 2x list (100 points) and NOC 00015 is on the 1.5x list (70 points).
Do LMIA-exempt job offers still get points?
Yes, if the job is in a high-wage occupation. As of November 3, 2026, LMIA status no longer matters: any valid job offer in a high-wage occupation can earn 50, 70 or 100 points. The offer may be for an existing or a new position and with any employer.
Is a job offer still useful for Express Entry?
Yes. It can give points on the Federal Skilled Worker 67-point grid, help you qualify for the skilled trades program, exempt you from proof of funds if you are authorized to work in Canada, and support a provincial nomination.
Are job offer points back?
Yes. As of 3 November 2026 (announced by IRCC on 16 October 2026), a qualifying high-wage job offer earns 50, 70 or 100 CRS points under a new Labour Market Integration factor, with no LMIA needed.
My calculator shows 50 extra points. Is it wrong?
It is wrong if it adds the old flat 50 job offer points. As of November 3, 2026, 50 points is correct only if your job’s NOC is on IRCC’s 1.3x high-wage list (1.5x gives 70 and 2x gives 100). Compare the result with your IRCC profile after IRCC finishes recalculating.
Does an open work permit count as a job offer?
No. IRCC says a work permit on its own is not a job offer, even if it is an open work permit.
Do I need an LMIA for job offer points after November 3, 2026?
No. From November 3, 2026, a qualifying job offer does not need an LMIA, for CRS points or for FSW/FST eligibility. Having one gives no extra points or priority. An officer still checks that the offer is genuine.
Which jobs count as high-wage?
IRCC uses the occupation’s NOC code, not your own salary. An occupation is high-wage if its national median wage is at least 1.3 times the average median wage. IRCC’s high-wage list sorts occupations into 1.3x, 1.5x and 2x levels.
Can I get job offer points and Canadian work experience points together?
No. IRCC compares both options and gives you the higher score. The factor is capped at 150 points (140 with a spouse).
Will there be draws right after November 3?
IRCC says recalculating profiles can take up to two weeks and it pauses rounds during that time.

Final Thoughts
The flat 50 and 200 job offer points Express Entry candidates relied on for a decade are not coming back. What applies as of November 3, 2026 is narrower: 50, 70 or 100 points, for high-wage occupations only, with no LMIA needed.
If your job is on IRCC’s high-wage list, add the offer to your profile now. If it is not, language, French, Canadian experience and provincial nomination are still where the points are, and a real employer can still help you with the last one.
